AK-47 was bred by Serious Seeds in Amsterdam in 1992 — a four-way landrace cross of Colombian, Mexican, Thai, and Afghani genetics. Despite the aggressive name, the cultivar produces a sour, earthy aroma and a long-lasting cerebral effect favored for focus and creativity. AK-47 racked up multiple High Times Cannabis Cup wins through the late 1990s and early 2000s, establishing itself as one of the foundational European hybrid lines. Today it remains a stable workhorse in legal markets worldwide and is consistently stocked across California dispensaries as a recognizable mid-shelf option.
