Granddaddy Purple (also GDP) is an indica-dominant cultivar bred by Ken Estes in San Francisco around 2003. It crosses Purple Urkle with Big Bud, producing the deep purple coloration and grape-berry aroma the strain is named for. GDP became one of the most influential California indicas of the medical-marijuana era and remains a regional flagship.
